Bio~Shannon Cox

My name is Shannon Cox and I am from Ossining, New York, USA. I attend High Point University in North Carolina, but am currently studying abroad at Leeds Trinity University in the United Kingdom. I have always had a passion for law and journalism, and I am excited to explore both fields while studying at Leed's.

I am interested in this module as I am hoping to expand my mindset beyond the teachings of creative writing that I have learned before. I think the value of studying abroad is taking modules that put you outside of your comfort zone and make you think in ways that you never have before. I am excited to be challenged this semester and am eager to dive into the online storytelling world.

Social media platforms in the United States are often used to promote one's own lifestyle and brand. I have several forms of social media myself that I use for different ways to communicate information with other people. For example, Facebook is often a more formal place to connect with old friends, while the platform Instagram keeps the people who are present in your life updated. However, the glorious thing about keeping a blogging website like this one, is that you are the creator of this site and you are not limited to the restrictions of pre-programmed sites like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. On this site type of site, you are the sole site creator and you get to design and create posts that are authentic and 100% you. I hope through my developmental work, I can use the ideas I learn and share with my fellow students to write reflections that show the value of work in the classroom and its influence on my personal development as a writer and blogger.
